Optics & precision engineering
Extremely small. Ultra precise.
The miniaturisation of components in a variety of industries, such as electrical engineering, medical sector and mechanical engineering, demands applications that seemed unthinkable for a long time. In the micro-machining in particular, the demands are particularly high. Demands that Gühring fulfils with its tools for micro-machining.
Important for micro-machining
A low deflection
When milling in the micro range, it is important that the tool displacement is kept as low as possible, as it can cause dimensional deviations. This requires the micro milling tools to be particularly sharp and easy to cut. High carbide quality, tight tolerances and process-reliable cooling are absolutely essential from blank.
Drilling with the smallest diameters
Drilling is also a central component of microtechnology. Compared to competing processes such as laser drilling, micro-machining scores with easier integration into manufacturing and cost-effectiveness. In addition to standard micro-precision drills, our micro-precision drill programme also offers special tools according to customer requirements.
Tools for thread production and reaming in the micro range are also designed to enable the series production of electronic components as well as precision engineering and optical goods. Our tools guarantee high process reliability and long tool life to prevent unnecessary tool change cycles and ensure cost-effective production in the micro range.
These conditions require manufacturing technologies that are customised to the product. Gühring’s special expertise in tool manufacture and grinding quality makes it possible to fulfil these requirements for micromachining as well. We achieve this primarily through our own Gühring carbide as well as cutting edge geometry and coating.
