The HR 500 DAS high-performance tool has been on the market for 20 years. Manufactured exclusively in Baden-Württemberg, we incorporate a great deal of expertise into the continuous optimisation and addition of this successful concept and guarantee the highest production quality. The result is demonstrated by numerous customer examples: thanks to high feed and cutting speeds at low cutting depths, you can achieve perfect machining results with the HR 500 at maximum cost-effectiveness. In some cases, the HR 500 pays for itself after just 100 holes compared to conventional reamers.

The features in detail
Perfect temperature & chip control
The cooling oil grooves on the shank of the HR 500 ensure targeted and even placement of the coolant on the cutting edges – even at high rotational speeds. Thanks to this innovative design, clogged coolant ducts are a thing of the past. Intensive cooling minimises friction and tool wear, while significantly increasing tool life, surface quality and productivity.
Finish with chip jam
In its through-hole reamer version, the HR 500 has a central coolant exit. Clogged coolant ducts are a thing of the past thanks to this particularly process-reliable cooling. The stepped neck of the tool also guarantees safe chip removal.
Limit extension to ±0.05
HR 500 without limits
Precision for every fit: The new intermediate dimensions of the HR 500 in 5 μ increments cover all tolerance ranges precisely – for 125 % more performance.

Small tolerances pose challenges for users: those who do not want to resort to expensive special tools when manufacturing tight tolerances outside the H7 fit system opt for a reamer from the so-called fixed size. Since the market only offers dimensions in standard 1/100 increments, the tool is only suitable for certain applications to a limited extent.
Gühring is now changing this with its new HR 500 standard range: thanks to new dimensions in precise 5 μ increments, the tool manufacturer is closing the gap in the market and covering all tolerances with a perfect fit. Without any compromises or costly custom-made products.

Perfect in the tolerance range
We are introducing the new market standard with dimensions in 5 μ increments. We show what this means for your tool selection using the example of tolerance 11 F7.
A = hole tolerance, B = recommended tolerance
Example tolerance 11 F7
Ø 11,010: The reamer does not fall within the required tolerance range of the hole. The hole is too small.
Ø 11.020: The reamer falls within the required tolerance range of the hole. However, the buffer to the lower dimension is only 0.004 μ. The tool wears prematurely, the hole becomes too small.
Ø 11.030: The reamer falls within the required tolerance range of the hole, but exceeds the upper tolerance dimension. There is a risk that the hole will have too large a size.
Ø 11.025 (solution): With the new standard range in the 5/1000-field, Gühring covers all tolerance ranges with precision. This results in the article #1675 11.025.

More InformationThe HR 500 range includes both monolithic and modular reamers. Depending on the application, both systems can be advantageous: our monolithic tools offer particularly high rigidity and low vibration during reaming, resulting in exceptionally high surface quality and accuracy. They have been precisely developed for specific applications. In contrast, our modular tools offer a high degree of flexibility, as different cutting heads, holders and inserts can be combined to meet different requirements. This makes them highly adaptable to different machining situations, materials or machines.
