OEM & Retooling
We stand for optimal processes
Do you need support when upgrading or retooling new or existing machines to a new process? Our experts for the OEM and retooling sectors will take over the entire project management for you and ensure the process runs smoothly. We design and optimise the tools and clamping fixtures and carry out the final acceptance of the process.
What is OEM & Retooling?
OEM original equipment is a technical service area at Gühring. Our experts take care of the entire process design in close cooperation with your planners and machine manufacturers. This ensures that all components are perfectly matched to each other.
Retooling is another service offered by Gühring, where a team of experts takes care of the process design for you. This includes the conversion of the machine with fixtures, tools and programming.
We optimise your processes
In all cases, Gühring takes on the entire project management – from planning the process and adapting existing equipment or designing new fixtures to commissioning. Our team of engineers, technicians and designers draws on its many years of experience in the field of project planning. The end result is always a tailor-made solution that works process-reliable in practice.
The process chain for OEM & Retooling
The process is designed in certain steps:
Step 1: Analysis of components & existing processes
The initial setup starts with the analysis of the workpiece to be manufactured. Existing processes are checked for possible optimisation potential. The following questions, for example, play a role here:
- is the workpiece currently being processed economically?
- what is the clamping situation of the component?
- which tools are used for the individual work steps?
- what process parameters are used?
Step 2: Plan processing & revise existing processes
During the OEM service, the process is designed and checked for possible optimisations. For example, the design of the clamping fixture plays a role here: How should the component be clamped on the machine? A tool concept is also put together specifically for the machining.
Step 3: Collision check
After the process has been designed at Gühring, the collision check is carried out. The process is checked for safety and a smooth process is ensured.
Step 4: Create NC programming & process implementation
The NC-programme created is adapted and run in on site by our experienced application technicians. This ensures efficient and precise implementation, resulting in high quality and productivity.
Step 5: Entering and final acceptance
Finally, we take care of entering the process. All records and documentation are made available to the customer.
Producing better. Together.
In over 20 years, we have established, analysed and optimised countless processes – always in close cooperation with our customers, of course. Gühring benefits from its expertise and experience as a manufacturer of special tools. By tailoring some tool solutions specifically to the respective machining operation, working steps can be combined, thereby reducing the number of tools required. In addition, high-performance tools from Gühring have more cutting edges, for example, enabling the use of higher cutting parameters.
14 % savings thanks to retooling
The machining process must be faster. This is the request that the manufacturer of a cast gearbox cover makes to Gühring. A clear case for the retooling team. The result: a time saving of several minutes per component – and thus a huge cost advantage for the customer.
