Solid carbide milling cutter
RF 100 Speed
Sharp and fast in steel and INOX
Effective HPC machining
With the RF 100 Speed, Gühring has a particularly sharp and fast HPC milling cutter in its Ratio programme. It is characterised by a high helix of 48° and its unequal blade pitch. But the tool also ensures greater process reliability when it comes to chip removal.
With previous smooth-edged milling cutters, which are used with HPC milling, chips are produced in length of the ap (infeed). This produces a lot of chips in a very short time, which are difficult to remove from the process. Chips remain on the workpiece during milling and are difficult to remove. The RF 100 Speed solves this problem thanks to its innovative chip breaker: it breaks the chips short and thus ensures a smooth chip removal with the HPC machining. The chips can be removed more easily, especially with internal contours and cavities, thus creating advantages in process reliability. The machine load is significantly reduced by the light cut on the HPC milling and the volume output is increased.
Our material specialists
The milling cutter RF 100 Speed has an appropriate geometry to cope with materials such as tough, low- and high-alloy steels and difficult-to-machine materials – especially in modern application techniques such as the HPC milling strategy.

RF 100 Speed P
Strong in high-strength steels and all types of cast iron
Thanks to its high helix angle and large flutes, the RF 100 Speed P ensures a low machine load and power consumption. The reduced number of teeth on the four-cutter provides maximum chip space for effective chip removal. Thanks to its 3° rake angle, the tool is suitable for materials such as high-strength steels up to 1600 N/mm² or 48 HRC, as well as all types of cast iron.
Your advantages with the RF 100 Speed P:
- high performance roughing even at high cutting depths
- universal GTC machining with an ae of up to 15%
- optimal for milling on high-strength steels up to 48 HRC and all types of cast iron
Solid carbide milling cutter
RF 100 Speed M
Specialist for stainless steels and special alloys
Gühring has added a material specialist to its RF 100 Speed product range for machining stainless steels. The RF 100 Speed M four-cutter has a larger rake angle of 9°, which makes it particularly easy for soft-tough steels up to 850 N/mm², high-alloyed and stainless steels, as well as special alloys, to be cut.
Your advantages with the RF 100 Speed M:
- larger rake angle of 9° ensures thin chips during milling
- universal GTC machining with an ae of up to 15%
- optimised for machining soft-tough steels up to 850 N/mm², high-alloy and stainless steels, as well as special alloys
The features in detail
The milling cutter RF 100 Speed has an appropriate geometry to cope with materials such as tough, low- and high-alloy steels and difficult-to-machine materials – especially in modern application techniques such as the HPC milling strategy.
Corners & ends double protected
The particularly large rake angles of the RF 100 Speed and its optimised web thinning allow for process-reliable plunging in helical or inclined ramps. The unequal blade pitch ensures improved running smoothness on the HPC milling and leads to excellent surfaces and high tool lives. A special corner protection chamfer and face correction protect the sensitive cutting edge corner from two sides, so that the cutting edge can also withstand heavy shear loads. The shank of the RF 100 Speed creates more chip space thanks to a core jump in the front field, making full grooves up to 0.8xD possible without any problems.

More InformationFor maximum volume performance
The RF 100 Speed really comes into its own with dynamic milling strategies such as HPC milling. Its light cut significantly reduces the machine load during HPC milling and increases the volume output. Very high cutting parameters are the result.
Application example HPC roughing

The new GTC power
With limited machine speed or cutting speeds limited by the material, the RF 100 5 and 7 Speed ensure high feed rates and long tool lives due to the increased number of teeth. They are particularly suitable for difficult-to-cut materials under stable conditions.
Solid carbide milling cutter
RF 100 5 Speed
Highly dynamic GTC machining operations with up to 10% ae
When milling very tough materials, an increase in cutting speed is only possible to a limited extent, taking process reliability into account. Thanks to the increased number of teeth of the RF 100 Speed five-flute ratio milling cutter, high metal removal rate with stable process reliability can be realised even in these difficult-to-machine materials. The tool allows highly dynamic GTC machining operations with an ae of up to 10%.
Your advantages with the RF 100 5 Speed:
- maximum feed rates for large metal removal rate
- can be used in all tough materials up to 1200 N/mm²
- ramping up to 10°, slotting with cutting depths up to 1xD, helical milling
Solid carbide milling cutter
RF 100 7 Speed
Highly dynamic GTC machining operations at up to 8% ae
The seven-edged version of the RF 100 Speed is particularly suitable for difficult-to-cut materials under stable conditions. If a lot of material is to be machined in the shortest possible time, the RF 100 7 Speed is the first choice, as it is also perfectly suited for highly dynamic milling strategies.
Your benefits with the RF 100 7 Speed:
- maximum feed rates for large metal removal rate
- can be used in all tough materials up to 1200 N/mm²
- helix milling up to 0.05xD ap infeed per revolution
Gühring and Chiron set machining record
8 kg steel per minute
Chiron and Gühring, machine manufacturer and tool specialist, have the same aspiration: to deliver outstanding products and to raise the respective level of performance even further through symbiosis clamping screws. The result: 1,000 cm³ steel (16MnCr5) were machined in 60 seconds. Eight kilograms of steel per minute.
