Grooving tools &
turning tools
Perfection that catches the eye
In addition to the world’s most extensive programme range of rotary cutting tools, we have also added grooving and turning tools. In our grooving programme, we offer stationary tools for turning operations.
Grooving tools with system
You can choose from almost 8,000 articles in the turning and grooving tools field. Systems 104 and 106 are perfect for boring out, grooving, axial grooving, thread turning and broaching. System 305 impresses with a triple-sided indexable insert for external and internal machining. System 222 is ideal for grooving and parting off applications in steel and stainless steel materials.

More InformationDepth of in-house production is unrivalled
From drill specialist to expert in the field of stationary tools – this is only possible thanks to Gühring’s enormous depth of production: carbide from its own production, specially developed machines and coatings from its own R&D department – this is how Gühring handles all its products.
Insight into our manufacturing
From carbide blanks to manufacturing and coating, we rely entirely on quality ‘made in Germany’ for our grooving tools. This allows us to flexibly adapt our product range to changing demands in the field of turning and grooving.
Grinding: Complete production of turning tools on our own grinding centres
Coating: In-house coating on proprietary coating systems
Carbide production: Gühring’s own carbide grades for turning tools
Highlights
Grooving and turning tools
Grooving system
System 222
For entry and parting off in steel and high-grade steel
The System 222 is characterised by its high flexibility and process reliability. The cutting insert is available in several versions and shines with its high precision and level of performance. The chip former ensures a secure chip control and optimum chip breaking. The extensive standard product range of clamping holders and parting blades is available with and without internal cooling.
Your advantages with the System 222:
- consistent and higher tool life than the competition
- very good chip constriction
- good surface quality
Micro-precision tools
System 108
Cutting system for various micro applications
The wide range of cutting inserts with a shank diameter of 8 mm and clamp holders guarantee maximum stability and a high process reliability for the boring out and profile turning up to tmax 2.5 mm. The tool solutions of System 108 are also ideal for internal grooving up to tmax 3 mm, back boring, axial grooving and broaching. A standard range of the most common tool holder completes the System 108.
Your advantages with the System 108:
- maximum stability & process reliability
- suitable for a wide range of bar applications
- out & profiles turning to tmax 2.5 mm, internal grooving to tmax 3 mm
Grooving system
System 305
With indexable inserts to the perfect surfaces
The grooving system from the Gühring standard range features ground indexable inserts, which are mounted on a carrier with internal cooling. The internal cooling on the carrier can be adjusted to ensure process-reliable chip removal – an option that is unique on the market to date.
Your advantages with the System 305:
- surface quality improved by 50% thanks to ground indexable insert
- reduction of the burr development
- better chip removal due to adjustable internal cooling on carrier
Drill extractor
Quattro Drill
One tool for four different machining operations
The drill extractor for the 106 and 108 systems is an ideal combination tool that combines drilling and boring out in one tool. The drill extractor also impresses with its innovative internal cooling: the coolant is fed directly to the cutting insert via the tool holder through the internal coolant ducts. Together with the specially developed cutting edge geometry, this prevents chip jam in the hole and thus tool breakage.
Your advantages with the Quattro Drill:
- savings in tool change cycles
- time savings during the tool change cycle
- patented coolant duct for maximum flow and high process reliability
- the tool produces a flat hole bottom
Turning with highest process reliability
Gühring is also constantly innovating in the grooving and turning tools fileds. In the video you can experience two highlights from this tool category in practice: the System 222 and the drill extractor Quattro Drill.
