When a cutting tool loses its cutting properties, that’s not the end – it’s just the beginning. We buy your worn tools and other carbide scrap, feed it into our recycling process and extract valuable secondary raw materials from it. We use these raw materials to produce new, high-performance tools. Why should you give us your carbide scrap? Here are five good reasons for carbide recycling with Gühring:

5 reasons for carbide recycling with Gühring

1. Turn scrap into money with us

We sort, weigh and document your carbide scrap. We use this data to prepare a transparent quotation for you. You can also calculate the value of your carbide online using our scrap calculator. The repurchase price is based on the current market price for carbide. The credit will be credited to your Gühring customer account and can be redeemed for one of your future tool purchases.

2. We customise our service for you

You don’t have to worry about anything yourself, because we organise everything to do with carbide scrap for you. You simply collect your carbide scrap in our yellow scrap collection barrels, which we provide free of charge. From a quantity of 25 kg, you can either send the carbide scrap to us or have it collected directly from your production facility by our collection service.

3. We take any carbide scrap

Return all worn indexable inserts, monoblock tools (drills, milling cutters, etc.) or other carbide rejects to us. Whether you originally purchased the tools from Gühring or one of our competitors is irrelevant.

4. Together we protect finite resources

By recycling carbide, you help to save valuable and, above all, finite primary resources. This is because tool scrap still contains up to 90 percent tungsten and 10 percent cobalt. Cobalt in particular is currently one of the most popular raw materials in the world, as it is used to produce lithium-ion batteries, which are indispensable in e-mobility, for example.

5. You improve your CO2 footprint

The recovery of secondary raw materials through recycling also makes a lot of sense in terms of energy and environmental management. The Institute for Applied Sustainability (inas) confirms: “Our results have shown that the recycling of carbide at Gühring saves 64.8% CO2 compared to the use of commercially available carbide powder made from primary materials.” Join us in making a contribution to the environment and become part of the Gühring Tool Circle!
